An X profile converts a visit into a follow with four things working together: the bio (160 characters), the name field, the header image and the pinned post. Most profiles have a bio that lists job titles and a pinned post from two years ago.
The X Bio Optimizer diagnoses the bio, writes five alternatives, suggests name-field and header text, and briefs the pinned post. This guide explains what each piece is for.
Five bios, five angles
Outcome ("Better espresso from what you already own"), identity ("For home baristas who refuse to buy a $2k grinder"), credibility ("Ex-roaster. 400 setups fixed."), curiosity ("The espresso advice nobody profits from") and direct ("Daily espresso fixes, one post each"). Pick the one that matches what your posts actually deliver.
Name field and header
The name field supports a short descriptor after your name that shows in every reply you write — the report suggests one. The header image is prime space for a single line of text that restates the promise; the report writes that line.
The pinned post is the proof
A pinned post should be your best thread or the clearest example of what following gets. The report briefs it — what it should be and a draft — and the checklist covers photo, name, bio, header, pinned and link.
Tips
- Paste your three best-performing posts with the bio. The report aligns the promise with what already works.
- Update the pinned post monthly; a stale pin reads as an inactive account.
- Keep the descriptor after your name under 20 characters or it truncates in replies.
Common mistakes
- A bio of job titles — "Founder. Investor. Coffee nerd." tells a visitor nothing about what following gets them.
- No pinned post — The first thing a visitor sees is whatever you posted last. Choose it.
- Header with no text — It is the largest element on the profile and usually says nothing.
Worked example
Input: Bio: "coffee | tech | opinions are my own". Posts about home espresso technique.
What the report returned: Top bio (direct): "One home espresso fix a day. No $2k grinder required. Chart ↓". Name: "Dan · Espresso". Header text: "Café shots from a small kitchen". Pinned: the "6 reasons your espresso tastes worse than the café" thread.
Frequently asked questions
Does the bio affect reach?
No. It affects follow conversion from profile visits, which is where reply-driven growth turns into an audience.
Should I include a link?
Only if it gives something specific. The report writes the link line to name the thing.
Business account?
Yes. Describe the customer and the report shifts to credibility and outcome angles.
